Description
The GPD Pocket 4 is designed to bridge the gap between a handheld, a mini-laptop, and a tablet. Its compact 8.8-inch screen (2560×1600 WQXGA, 16:10 ratio), with 144 Hz refresh rate and touch support, makes it very usable for media, productivity, and even some gaming. Key specs include a variety of processor options (AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, or more powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 / HX 365), up to 64 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and SSD storage generally ranging 1 TB to 4 TB.
It features Windows 11 (Home), and brings modern connectivity: USB4 port (40 Gbps), USB-C, HDMI 2.1, etc. There are modular add-ons like RS-232 serial, KVM module, LTE/4G optional modules. Display brightness is roughly 500 nits, colour gamut about 97% DCI-P3. Battery is about 44.8 Wh, with up to ~9 hours video playback in light usage; fast PD charging (100W) helps with portability. A fingerprint sensor (Windows Hello) is included. Build includes a keyboard, touchpad, and often a rotating screen hinge or pivot so you can use it in different orientations.
This device is excellent for people who want serious computing in a palm-sized form — for travel, code work, virtual machines, light gaming. The tradeoffs are battery life under heavy load, heat/noise, and cost (very high for top-end variants), plus niche support / driver issues being a newer device.
